Project Overview

1. Identified the Big Question and proposed solutions to solve it.
2. Applied sustainable design principles and considered the three aspects of sustainability during ideation.
3. Identified target audience to pitch ideas to and to gain support.
4. Used graphics and statistics to persuade the audience that the site could be used for this purpose.
5. Produced an infographic to showcase my final idea with supporting data.
Initial ideation phase of what could be done
I  divided  my goals for my site into three themes:  increase, engage, and retain.  I  developed ideas for each theme and later narrowed my scope to one solution that encompassed all three themes. This allowed me to draw upon my best ideas for each theme while reducing the time spent on in-depth research.
Earliest Version of Infographic
My earliest version aimed to showcase both the social and economic benefits that came with backlane revitalization.  However,  after  much  contemplation  and  toying  around with the design, I decided to scrap this idea as I could not display the complex ideas in a simple infographic.
First Submission of Infographic
In this version, I decided to focus on the social sustainability aspect of backlane revitalization as I found this the most  important, especially during times like this pandemic where we realize the importance of social interaction.
Reiteration of Submission
I redesigned by original infographic with three guiding principles, which was to reduce text, increase color, and increase the use of diagrams. This approach allowed me to present information in a simplified and concise manner.
